Valentine's Day 2011
I'm not a huge fan of Valentine's day, but my kids love it. They had so much fun delivering valentine's at school and decorating their envelopes. Ben and I decided to focus on our little family and have a fun evening together instead of going out on a date. We had heart shaped pizza for dinner, I had my GF pizza. We then gave the girls gifts, which we usually don't do. Sydnee had been begging for a pillow pet for months, so we gave in and got her one. We gave Maren a pillow pet as well and Addy a new outfit for her doll she'll be getting for her birthday. Last week for FHE we talked about love and the scripture from John about the new commandment that ye love one another. We wrote things we love about each person in our family. For FHE on Valentine's day we took it another step and talked about the gifts we received and how Jesus gave us an even better gift. We read scripture from John 15:13 "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." We talked about how we all love one another, and that Jesus loves us too. I made a scrapbook page for each member of the family with their picture on it and what each person wrote about them. It was a fun little project that I think went over well. The kids were totally wired so I hope they remember the message. We ended the day by eating chocolate and wishing our cheesecake was cool enough to eat.
Comfort Food
I have always loved circus cookies. You know the pink and white ones with sprinkles. Until I was diagnosed with celiac disease, I always had them in my house. I never buy them anymore, and I miss them. My friend Kelsey had a post on her blog vanillajoy the other day on how to make your own circus animal cookies. I made my own gluten free version and they were so yummy! I was in heaven. I used my GF sugar cookie recipe and made smaller cookies, when they are cool you dip them in melted almond bark and sprinkle! These were a bit time consuming, but totally worth it. At least until I step on the scale again.
