Bienvenidos and Buenos Dias

After spending more than 24 hours traveling, we decided to take a walk and explore our surroundings, we were also in need of some breakfast.  We tried to follow Claudia's map to the market, but after walking for a long time, we decided we were going the wrong way.  We wandered for a while and then asked google for some help.  We found our way to Carulla, the local supermarket.  Ben used his best Spanglish to order us some omelets and arepas. A nice couple and their granddaughter shared their table with us.  They were very nice and we were able to communicate a little.  Our omelets were delicious, they had corn, onion, tomato, ham, cheese and mushrooms in them, and the arepas were the best I had ever had.  We bought a few groceries and walked back to our hotel.  Our hotel is an old house that has been converted into apartments.  There is a beautiful garden and courtyard as you come through the gate.  There are lots of toys for the children to play with.  Our room is upstairs.  We have a tiny kitchenette and a room with a table and chairs, a TV, the tiniest sofa I have ever seen and a day bed.  There is also a large jug of water that is our drinking water.  We also have a bedroom with a really small bed and a pack and play for Diego and a bathroom.  We unpacked and skyped with the kids.  It was good to see them.  After a nap and a shower, we went down to the commons area and met some of our neighbors.  There is a very nice French couple who are here with their four year old son they adopted two years ago from Bogota and they just adopted a 19 month old boy.  They are very nice people and their children are darling.  We also met Sarah who is also from the U.S. and adopting through the same agency as we are.  She is adopting a beautiful little girl with down syndrome. Her daughter and Diego were in the same group in the institution.  We met our Colombian adoption rep, her name is Soraya.  She is very beautiful and so sweet.  She explained what the process would be for our first meeting with Diego.  She told us that Diego would be hungry for lunch when we arrived home.  We decided it was best to head back to the market so that we could feed him.  We stopped for dinner first at Cali Vea, a small fast food like restaurant.  The food was good and they smiled at us and were helpful as we tried to order our food.  I'm really wishing I would have paid more attention in my High School Spanish class.  The food was really good.  We went to the market for the second time and bought a few more groceries.  After arriving home, we watched TV in Spanish for a while and then were able to visit with family again over Skype.  Silas kept looking for Ben and I around the computer desk.  After a brief visit and good night's, we went to bed and watched Dr. Who on Netflix.  Netflix works great here in Bogota.  After a very long day, we crashed out, because the next day was going to be a big day.
