Camping trip

The girls have been begging to go camping all summer, we finally put it on the calendar so it would happen. The only problem is that after our trip to Logan with Maren refusing to sleep, we decided we didn't want to deal with that all night in a tent. So, we went camping in our backyard. We cooked dinner in our Dutch oven and it was yummy. We had our neighbor's the Chile's over for dinner which was lots of fun. Ben made a small fire for roasting marshmallows and we made s'mores. The kids thought it was great! We put Maren to bed in her crib and then we all went out to the tent to sleep. We watched the stars come out and figured out the temperature by counting the cricket chirps. Ben and Addy and Sydnee slept in the tent all night, but I'm a wimp. I came in at 3:30 to go to the bathroom and couldn't bring myself to go back out. Besides, the batteries in the baby monitor were dying and I didn't want Maren to wake up and not know about it. The next morning, Ben made us some yummy breakfast burritos on our new Camp Chef. Thanks to my parents for giving us our Christmas present (Camp Chef) early. I know we will use it a lot! We went for a "hike" around the neighborhood and then we made some Dutch oven peach cobbler to go with our lunch. I enjoyed our camping trip at the Yancey campgrounds, I wouldn't mind doing it again.

The girl with the curls

Addy has always wanted curly hair. Lately she has been begging me to get a perm. I caved. I know perms aren't the cool thing anymore, but I always had my hair permed as a kid and I loved it. Our neighbor Ludean used to give me my perms, and she permed Addy's hair for her. It was fun to watch, it brought back a lot of memories. I just realized that I don't have any "after" shots, I'll have to take one tonight.

The sisterhood week #9

Movie Monday

Taco Tuesday

This week we bade farewell to summer and the sisterhood of the traveling van, at least for a little while. Camille and I went to see the Glee movie on Monday night. I'm a closet Glee fan! Since it was Taco Tuesday, we had some yummy tacos at Rubio's and then went next door to Coney's for some custard. Camille started back to work yesterday (sigh), I will miss my weekly outings with my sister. She is one of my best friends and I have loved being able to spend time with her every week.

The sisterhood week #8

For this week's adventure, we went to the splash pad in Highland and then lunch at Winger's. The girls loved the splash pad. We practically had to drag Maren away from the water. Thanks sis for another fun week!

Sisters

Odds and ends of July

Summer has gone by way too fast! I haven't been able to keep up, but that is good because it means we've been having fun. Our time has been filled with trips to the library, trips with Aunt Camille, school clothes shopping, playing in the pool, two trips to Lagoon and a few stops for ice cream along the way.

Our big adventure came the first week in August. We took a road trip in the traveling van with Aunt Camille and Grandma. We went to Brigham City and Logan. We stopped in Brigham City for lunch at the Idle Isle cafe, then we stopped to take a look at the new temple being built. Our final stop in BC was at the Idle Isle candy shop. I have a weakness for their chocolate, it's heavenly. We stayed at the Crystal Inn in Logan. We went swimming at the hotel, my mom went swimming for the first time in 47 years. It's amazing what people do on road trips ;) We went to dinner at a fun little Mexican restaurant and stopped at the Logan temple to walk around. After a sleepless night with Miss Maren, we had breakfast and then went to Willow Park Zoo. What a great little zoo! I think I enjoyed it more than Hogle Zoo. It was nice and shady and clean and although there wasn't a huge variety of animals, I thought it was just right. After the zoo, we went up to the USU campus and stopped at the creamery for lunch. We ate Aggie ice cream for lunch and it was delicious! After purchasing some squeaky cheese and caffeinated beverages for the driver, we headed home. We had a wonderful time and I hope we can do it again sometime soon! Thanks mom for being brave and joining us!
